how much does a web site design cost?
the cost depends on many factors, including size, complexity, interactivity and how many special features you want. here's a few costs you can depend on, though...
server space: your web pages will reside on a server, which is a computer that's linked directly to the internet. we can host your site for $20-$95 a month, depending on the size and interactivity of your site. we offer, through a third party host, exceptional web hosting capabilities. you will receive tech support, at least 150MB of server space, 5 email addresses, live statistics and much more. spam filtering is also available for an additional monthly fee.
domain name registration: your domain name is the address where people will find your web page, such as www.yourcompanyname.com. some companies charge $35 a year, with the first two years paid up front. however, blue sky designs will register your domain name for $21.95 a year as part of the web site design.

how long will it take before the site is up?
that answers depends on the complexity of your site. a small site may only take a few weeks; a larger site may take between 6-12 weeks. much of it depends on how quickly you are able to supply us with content. we can work with you to make sure the site is up as soon as possible. once we begin on the site, we can usually have a graphical template to show you in a couple of weeks, depending on our work load.
what's the first thing i need to do?
first, we'll meet with you to determine what you want on your web site. we can suggest a basic outline based on your business to help you get started. then we'll put together a proposal based on your company's needs and present it for your approval. once we agree on a proposal, blue sky designs will begin.
depending on the size of the site, we can have a graphical template ready for your approval within a couple of weeks. once you approve the design, we will proceed to program the site. in the meantime, you'll be gathering content for the web site for us. once the site is programmed and all the content is added, we'll show the site to you for final approval. when you're happy with the site, we'll train you on the content management system, tie up the loose ends, register the site with the search engines and then your site is complete and ready for business!
will my site be listed with the search engines?
of course! we'll take care of that for you. we register your site with the top search engines used by most consumers. don't panic if your site does not show up immediately in the search engines. sometimes, it takes a couple of months with the busier engines. although we can't guarantee your placement with the engines, we know lots of handy programming tricks to give your site a better chance at ranking for your desired search phrases!
what's a content management system and do i need one?
 a content management system allows you to update and edit your site on your own without needing to know any programming. we can add a secret "back door" area to your web site that only you know about. you'll enter a password to access the area and will be met with a menu of all the sections of your web site. you just choose the section you want to update and make the changes in the entry screens. it's as simple as that. your web site's content is stored in a database that quietly runs underneath the site. you can edit your site as often as you wish. you can also add pages yourself, and add as many as you like!
if you think your web site content will be changing frequently, you may want to consider a content management system. some examples where it would come in handy include a calendar of events, latest news or a customer newsletter.
of course, if you don't think you'll need the ability to update frequently, then you can always have blue sky designs make updates for you on an as-needed-basis.
